In this engaging art project, students will create a starfish on canvas using a scratch technique, called sgraffito, that adds intricate details to the body of the starfish. The activity starts with painting the canvas using acrylic paints, focusing on the application of thick layers of paint. This method is essential for the sgraffito technique, where students will use tools to etch into the thickly applied paint, revealing layers of colors beneath to create dynamic textures and patterns. Perfect class for children ages 7-9 years old. 90-min class Children will be exposed to a variety of mediums and work on building up new skills.
