About Ayanna

Hello! I have a master's degree in reading education and am currently a Reading Specialist at an elementary school. I have been a certified teacher working in Northern Virginia for 5 years. As a highly-distinguished teacher, I have worked with a wide range of students in various settings. I have tutored students from Kindergarten through 6th grade. I have a passion for teaching struggling students how to read. Based on overwhelming research, this requires the use of an explicit or synthetic approach to phonics. I have many years of experience using this approach and have seen tremendous student growth. I utilize a multi-sensory approach to reading, phonics, and spelling. I provide all materials and genuinely value the relationships I build with students. There is no better feeling than seeing it all "click" within a student!
