About Byron

Hi, my name is Byron, and I am currently a grad student at JMU getting my Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. I am originally from the Richmond area and completed my undergrad at UVA. Once I graduate, I plan on working with children as it has been a passion of mine for many years. I first started working with children during my senior year of high school when I volunteered to coach a U8 soccer team. I absolutely loved it, and it was one of the highlights of every week. During my undergrad, I tailored my volunteer and work experience around working with children. This included volunteering at a daycare, an after-school elementary program, and a nonprofit organization teaching children healthier eating habits. I then became a caregiver for a 13-year-old with Level 3 autism for 2 years, which was an amazing experience. Since then I have been a camp counselor for Charlottesville Parks and Rec and have also been coaching soccer (children aged 2-8) for the last few years.
