I started in a skilled nursing facility in Oregon; Holly Residential. There I helped residents with all of their daily activities including showering, brushing teeth and getting dressed in the morning. Transferring with the use of gait belts as well as a variety of Hoyer lifts was a daily occurrence for me l. I helped with toileting and feeding as well as companionship. I also helped residents get ready for bed and checking oxygen tanks as well as c-paps. At times I had 15 residents in my care on a shift and I always kept the quality of care high, changing and repositioning residents every 2 hrs depending on levels of mobility and incontinence. I have worked with a variety of people including those dealing with Dementia and Alzheimers, Diabetes, stroke, blindness, hard of hearing, Parkinson's, and developmental disabilities. I worked there for a few years and have found being an HCA gives me the ability to truly enhance my level of care. Ask me if you would like to know more!
