I was part of a caregiving team of three for a woman with Alzheimer's under hospice care for 5 months, prepared and fed meals, changed diapers, changed bedding when soiled, and kept her company. Time per week was evenly distributed and hospice cared for her baths. I also provided 24/7 care for a woman with severe dementia. The family refused to accept the degree of her illness and were not always nice to her. I feel very strong about leaving especially challenged seniors with dignity. I find I'm equally protective of both the very young and the elderly.
