About Heather L

I have always loved helping and caring for people of all ages. My first job as dietary aid at a nursing home, I used my communication skills, compassion to aid and empathize with the elderly. When assisting and spending time with my grandmother, who had COPD, I would help her with her medications, refilling her oxygen tanks, and do light cleaning. As a companion, I would play cards, put together puzzles, run errands, take her to doctor appointments, watch tv and have conversations. Through this job and the time spent with my grandma, I learned the right procedures and special care needed for seniors. Also I have had office jobs, done childcare in my home, taught Sunday school for preschoolers for 22 years and was a lunch lady at my children's school for 4 years. I ponder upon the question of what job will give me the most joy. I have found that love and care has always been my driving force.
