I grew up in Upstate New York and attended a university there. After graduation, I taught 5th grade in an elementary school in New York for one year. From here, I moved to Maine and taught. Then I finished my 45 year teaching career in 2015. I keep my teaching license current, because I still substitute pre school to high school. I have been babysitting since I was 12 and took care of my grandson during his early years. After I retired from full time teaching, people started asking me to sit for their children and suggested that I sign up for a babysitting website and that's what I did. I feel that I have a lot to offer children: academically, emotionally and socially. When I babysit for families, I am very involved with what the kids like to do. I am not a "couch potato" or an observer. I love being involved and working with a variety of age groups. My experience as a teacher allows me to bring a lot of resources to the table, but most of all just to have fun.

Jan is a wonderful babysitter. She recently babysat for my very energetic five year old and two year old. My children do not have non family sitters very often so I was a little nervous at how they would react, but as soon as I spoke to Jan on the phone and my children met her all of my nervousness subsided. She read with them, played hide and seek, had snack, time, bathed them, had the ready for bed when we returned, and they were happy. That is an A+ night in my book as far as a babysitter is concerned. I look forward to working with Jan again and would be happy to recommend her as a babysitter.
