My beloved parents wanted to "age in place" in their own home. It meant a great deal to them, to live out their final years in the way they wanted. I became their caregiver until they finally left to be with the Lord. Even today, I am filled with joy knowing the part I played till the end. This is what drives me now as a paid caregiver: I know that I make a difference. In addition to assisting with ADL's, I have experience with diabetes, Parkinson's, Alzheimers, MSA, incontinence care, Hoyer lift, motorized wheelchair, handicapped van driving, some hospice.
