About Maia

Hello! My name is Maia and I am a passionate and responsible UVM student with experience in childcare. I'm originally from New York City, where I started babysitting at the age of about 12 for multiple neighbors who lived in and around my building. I continued babysitting throughout my middle school and high school years. My later years of high school I was babysitting regularly for two families on my block, one with three kids and the other with two, all in elementary school. I love working with kids because I find it fun and rewarding. When I was babysitting, I never felt like it was a chore or a job to be around the kids. I genuinely enjoyed myself when I was around them, and felt enriched by their humor, attitude and zest for life. I think taking care of kids and being a part of their lives in the crucial years that they are forming their opinions about the world is one of the most important jobs a person can do.
