About Mary

I'm interested in working part time only. I will consider up to 12 hrs per wk with a single pod. I'm not interested in full time work. I taught for over 10 years, mostly special ed. I tutored for over 3 years. I had a multiple subject teaching credential, now expired. I've trained in various programs. I've done all but the thesis towards Master's in Education w focus in Reading. My theory is once you remove the stress, learning is easy. I don't do anything dramatically different than any other tutor. After all, reading still uses decoding and memorizing words, math is counting and patterns, writing is communicating. You don't change basic concepts. However, I can change the environment and attitude. I want tutoring to be fun and relaxing. I want the kids to be ready to learn, so we make mistakes and see how to correct them without judgement, get rewarded when we see our own errors and fix them. My tutoring sessions include laughter, fun and learning.
