I have been working with the elderly for 6 years now. I spent most of those time in assisted living facilities specializing in Alzheimer's patients with different health problems such as mobility, heart problems, etc. While I was working in the facilities, I worked for private home clients as well on the side. I go to their homes and I assist them in the activities of daily living such as hygiene, meal prep., light housekeeping, transportation, etc. I have also worked with clients that are on their beds and on G-tubes. My recent job was working for one of the cities in Virginia, in one of the city run intermediate care facility for the severely intellectual and physically disabled clients.

Our family hired Mavel several months ago after our 84-year old father became bed-ridden after a serious infection and stroke. We have been very pleased with the knowledge and clinical skills she brings with her. After discharging from a skilled nursing facility his medical needs were extensive, including medication administration, PEG tube feeding, oral care, and incontinence care. She has worked as a home health nurse/aide, attending to all his medical and comfort needs in a very caring and professional manner. She always arrives on time and has rarely called out, providing ample notice the few times she has had to take time off. She provides thorough documentation of her shift . Because our father sleeps on and off during the shift, she continues to stay busy through assistance with light housekeeping chores. Another added bonus is that she speaks Tagalog, which has been very helpful for both elderly Filipino parents.
