About Rachel

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have experience teaching children ages 2-18 in school and volunteer settings. I worked as a preschool teacher in 2011-2014 and 1 year from 2019-2020 (I had my own classroom then). I've worked in public schools for 5 years in Portland and Pierce County as well. I also have 2 kids of my own (ages 3 and 1). Throughout all my experiences, I have learned and come to believe that building positive, trusting relationships with children is the most important thing. Education and care for children goes beyond the academic aspects; it is based on love, trust, cooperation, and consistency. I love to have fun with children and help them experience and learn about new things. I do this with my own children by taking them to parks, going walks around the neighborhood, playing games, doing art projects, and reading books.
