About Shannon

I am a former high school English teacher with 8 years of experience. I began my career in Connecticut, and taught all grades 9-12 (my student teaching included 6-8), including standard, honors, and both AP Literature and AP Language. In Virginia, I gained experience with the IB program, teaching both MYP and DP courses. I also taught both years of the IB HL Literature course, which included preparation for all IB assessments (Individual Oral, HL Essay, Paper 1, and Paper 2). I have also assisted numerous students with the planning, writing, and revision of college essays. All of my courses included reading, vocabulary, literature analysis, grammar, and writing. My strengths are in reading and writing, but I was a well-rounded high school and college student; thus, I can be of help in several subjects. I can also offer support to your students in a variety of ways, including content-area assignments and executive functioning.
