About Temekia

Starting from a very young age, I learned to care for the elderly. My maternal grandmother was mentally ill, diabetic and also a stroke victim. I helped my own mother with her and gained hands on knowledge in the process. I again had to draw on this knowledge when my own father, a 30 year retired US Army veteran, became terminally ill with cancer and became an amputee. I placed my retail career on hold and again moved to be with my mother to help care for him. During the downturn in the economy and I was laid off from my job in 2009, I drew on this experience yet again and started caring for clients on my own part time. What started as part time in order to make ends meet during a recession has now turned into a full time career. I've been caring for seniors with Alzheimer's and dementia in a home setting full time for over 10 years now leaving the world of retail management behind. I love my work and caring for others.
