I hired Vanessa as a temporary nanny for the summer, so she watched my daughter from 8-10 months old. She was wonderful with her and my daughter clearly enjoyed being with her. I asked Vanessa to take her to the local library for music classes a couple times a week and she even discovered a second local class on her own to go more often. She was helping in little ways like letting me know when we were getting low on cereal, etc. I had a local stay-at-home mom from the neighborhood tell me that she sees them at the library and Vanessa was really good with her--that's pretty much the most reassuring reference you can get. She also started helping me clean/organize in the evenings for some extra hours and was great at that as well. If she didn't have to leave for school, I would have kept her!
