About Whitney

I am honored to have been chosen as Teacher of the Year for 2024-25 at my elementary school. I have 10 years of teaching experience, in 1st and 3rd grades. I am an ELA teacher leader, and I teach teachers best practices for reading instruction and serving multilingual learners. My husband and I have been married for 25 years. Our own children are all grown up. Our eldest daughter got married this month and runs a research lab, our younger daughter is an honor student at KSU and participating in study abroad this summer, and our son just graduated from HS and will be a freshman at GA Tech soon. We have 4 dogs, a snake, and 2 grandcats. I love helping students realize that they can do hard things, and seeing their joy when they accomplish new skills. My passion is helping students learn to read. I would love an opportunity to work with you, and your student, to help them close some learning gaps and be set up for success in school next year.
