The world of making your own clay creations! This class will teach you how to create several hand-built clay pieces. Students will be introduced to Kiln firing, and procedures, as well as stages of clay: Wet, Greenware, Bisqueware, and more. Each student will custom glaze each project, and have all pieces fired in our kiln. During our last class, we will meet the last 10-15 minutes of class for an Art Show Presentation. Northern VA / DMV Area! We are back with the Ultimate IN-PERSON Communication Intensive for High School Students at our awesome Highest Speak Center in Reston, VA! Camp runs from 1:30–4:30 PM — perfect for high schoolers who like sleeping in during the summer! High school is when communication skills truly start to matter. Students are expected to participate in class discussions, present projects, interview for internships and leadership roles, collaborate in groups, and soon interview for college and jobs. Yet most students are rarely taught how to organize their ideas clearly, write strong arguments, and present them confidently! That’s exactly what this program focuses on. In this high-energy, 5-day program (3 hours per day) students will build powerful communication skills while having a TON of fun through engaging speaking challenges, interactive activities, and real-world scenarios. Students will practice both writing and presenting, learning how to develop ideas quickly and communicate them clearly in front of others. Throughout the week, students will learn how to: • Organize their ideas quickly and clearly • Write and structure short speeches effectively • Present their ideas with confidence and clarity • Think on their feet during impromptu speaking • Manage nervousness when speaking in front of others • Respond thoughtfully to unexpected questions • Develop stronger social communication skills and presence Students will practice both prepared speaking and impromptu speaking, which are critical skills for high school success. This class will teach the student who is at the beginning of their musical journey how to read notes on a staff, how to understand musical terms in a piece of music, and how to understand and follow various parts in a choral piece. We will explore vocal ranges, matching pitch with a group, sight reading simple tunes, and following a choral part. This class is highly recommended for anyone interested in singing in the upper level choirs, especially for those with no other musical background.

In AI Pioneers, our emerging engineers will learn how to create projects for social good with Python programming language. Through hands-on coding, students will learn how computers can use data to solve complex problems like natural language processing and computer vision. Led by Stanford, MIT, and Ivy League alumni and grad students, students will explore the ways they can meaningfully use AI to predict heart disease, create social robots, assist with disaster relief, and navigate autonomous vehicles. In our curriculum, we emphasize ethical responsibility, career paths in artificial intelligence, and interdisciplinary applications! Our school skill classes help your child make that important transition to academic learning by way of a creative bridge. Our program instils classroom curiosity and a genuine love of learning. Children build self-confidence through art, science, math, language, movement and more.

Music Makers get to experience making music together through singing rounds and folk songs, as well as expressing themselves through movement. They will continue developing a foundation in music concepts-such as note reading, dynamics, tempo, steady beats, reading rhythms, etc.-through singing and playing classroom instruments. Students will perform at TCHA’s Choir Concert at the end of the semester (Tuesday, December 1st at 7pm).

In a full-day camp, students rotate between four hands-on activities each day: robotics, coding, general science, and EE (electricity/electronics). We will learn the scale, listen to famous composers and famous piano pieces, make music with sound stories, learn musical terms, strengthen our fingers, work on proper posture and hand position, learn quarter notes and half notes, and letters C,D,E all before private music lessons begin!
