About Mary Beth

I am a former teacher of the year for the Dumont School District. I hold an MBA, an MST and I completed the Orton Gillingham certification program through the Masons in Tenafly, NJ. I currently teach Orton Gillingham to first and second graders as well as replacement ELA (resource room) to students in grades 6-8 (I am certified in general and special ed middle school ELA) at Lovell J. Honiss School in Dumont, NJ. I love teaching students to read and write and I utilize many strategies to get students to do both. I believe ALL students can learn to read and write. Many times writing anxiety is due to the fact that students do not know where to begin. I teach them ways to overcome this anxiety by giving them a path to get there. I have taught Orton Gillingham to students from Kindergarten through high school and it is never too late for a dyslexic student to learn to read! It is a joy to watch students unlock the gift of reading.
