Hi! My name is Shannon, and I am a current English teacher who is looking to extend her teaching by tutoring students in the area! I have five years of classroom teaching experience for grades 9-12 in both advanced and non-advanced courses. I also have extensive experience with standardized test prep, as I have taught 12th grade AP Literature and 10th grade Keystone prep. I have taught college essay writing to 12th graders and SAT reading/writing prep to 11th graders, as well. My teaching style is one of inquiry-based learning and high expectations. I won't give students the "right answer" right away, instead encouraging them to explore with their own questions and research and guiding them along the way. I also meet them where they are with patience and empathy, but push them further with encouragement and support. I look forward to potentially getting to know you and your student!
