I have just come out of a recent summer as a full time (70 hours a week) live in nanny for a 2 1/2 yo girl and 7 yo boy. Through this, I have achieved a balance between ensuring the children view my role as that of a parent whom they feel safe with and loved by, but also feel they can have fun and be themself around me. Patience is key, and I have learned that every child is different when it comes to meeting their needs and adjusting to the way in which they navigate the world. I believe to be a successful nanny, the relationship with the kids must be built on trust, respect, kindness, and most of all love. I have also been a nanny for a child with Down syndrome for several months at a time, and been a nanny for a family with three children where I have been in charge of housekeeping, meals, and transportation to and from activities. All of these experiences over the past five years have lead to the development of an abundance of childcare skills.
