Your child will practice using scissors, holding a pencil and paint brush, and much more through drawing, painting, and sculpting. Winter Semester (January-Mid March) This class is recommended for ages 10+ who have a basic knowledge of drawing and anime. Digital Art Supplies REQUIRED. iPad with Apple Pencil preferred. Class is taught using the program Procreate for Apple iPad, which is strongly recommended. Other programs may suffice, but we cannot promise a 1:1 comparison of lessons for any other programs used. Experience in procreate preferred but not required. We will study what makes a cartoon "anime," different methods, techniques, and all the formal elements you need to create your own anime art and characters. Let’s practice our drawing techniques with this Beatrix Potter inspired mouse! Potter was a popular English writer and illustrator, responsible for classic stories such as “Peter Rabbit”. This week we are mimicking her whimsical style to draw an adorable mouse. Students will get to practice line and form to set up a successful composition with a distinct background and foreground. They will also learn valuable cross hatching techniques to express value and light. Acrylic Landscapes: It may be cold and grey outside, but we can always find an escape through art! This project invites students to travel the world as they explore acrylic landscapes of their dream vacation destination. This weekly 2-hour class is a great option for kids looking to move ahead with their artistic talents. Students can choose to come on Tuesdays, or Thursdays, or both! Whatever works best for your schedule. The students are given more independence and freedom to be creative with the projects, and they have more autonomy in how their projects go. Projects often run for 3-4 weeks to give students the extra time to create a really impressive piece. Recommended for ages 10-16.
