PreK, Kinder, & 1st grade Art Program Overview Unlocking Creativity Through Core Art Foundations Our Pre-K, Kinder, & 1st grade Art Program is designed to foster creativity and build essential skills through a sequential and cyclical curriculum. Known for her sculptures and influential art gallery, Savage is responsible for educating and encouraging a generation of nationally renowned artists born out of the Harlem Renaissance. We will experiment with the tactile approach of clay by making an antelope bust. Students will expand their sculpting techniques while learning about armature support construction, troubleshooting with different approaches to balance and application. To top it all off, they will add their own lively touch by painting their masterpiece, focusing on value and form.

A preview allows students to participate in the first class of a focused program and experience its structure and expectations before enrolling. About the program: Digital Art 2 builds on students’ foundational Procreate skills and introduces them to a series of new digital art techniques. Each technique is taught through a focused lesson, followed by a project that allows students to practice and apply what they learned. Over the session, students will explore different approaches to digital drawing and painting while strengthening their skills, growing more confident, and working with greater independence. Winter Semester (January-Mid March) This class is recommended for ages 12+ who have a basic knowledge of drawing, anime, and some experience with digital art. Digital Art Supplies REQUIRED. iPad with Apple Pencil preferred. Class is taught using the program Procreate for Apple iPad, which is strongly recommended. Other programs may suffice, but we cannot promise a 1:1 comparison of lessons for any other programs used. Experience in procreate preferred but not required. We will study what makes a cartoon "anime," different methods, techniques, and all the formal elements you need to create your own anime art and characters.
